Why Kimono Fabric?

Each of our pieces is made from upcycled vintage kimono, carefully sourced from Japan. These fabrics once lived entire lives—worn in ceremonies, passed down through generations. Instead of letting them fade into obscurity, we give them new form and purpose.

The Meaning of “Shisso”

Our name, Shisso (質素), means simplicity or modesty in Japanese. It reflects not only our clean, intentional aesthetic, but our values—respect for tradition, thoughtful craftsmanship, and the belief that beauty doesn’t have to be loud.
